Notice is hereby given that Nomination Day is January 10, 2022 and that nominations for the election of candidates for the following offices will be received at the location of the local jurisdiction office set out below within the period beginning on October 27, 2021 and ending at 12:00 NOON on Nomination Day.

By-Election Information

The Village of Innisfree By-Election will take place on Monday, February 7, 2022. 

Nomination Day for the Municipal By-Election has been set for Monday, January 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 P.M. (NOON).

Notice to File Nomination Papers

A person may file a nomination to become a candidate for the Municipal By-Election which is to be held on February 7, 2022.

Nominations for the election of a candidate in the Village of Innisfree will be received at the Village of Innisfree Administration office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.  

Candidates must have their nomination papers filed by 12:00 noon on Nomination Day, January 10, 2022, four (4) weeks prior to Election Day.

The list of Village of Innisfree candidates who have filed their nomination papers to run in the 2021 municipal election can be viewed below. A final official list of candidates will be available after Nomination Day, January 10, 2022. 

A person may request to examine the filed nomination papers during regular business hours and in the presence of the Returning Officer.

Voter Eligibility

According to Section 47 of the Local Authorities Election Act, a person is eligible to vote in an election held pursuant to this Act if the person:

  • is at least 18 years old;
  • is a Canadian citizen;
  • has resided in Alberta for the 6 consecutive months immediately preceding election day and the person's place of residence is located in the area on election day.
